A rain barrel is a system that collects and stores rainwater from your roof that would otherwise be lost to runoff and diverted to storm drains and streams. Our rain barrel is composed of a 55 gallon food grade barrel, brass spigot and brass overflow valves, and a screened lid to keep debris and insects out. You can sit the barrel conveniently under a gutter down spout. In some cases, you may need to remove the existing downspout at the elbow and attach a flexible downspout. The barrel should sit on a stand. The higher the barrel, the better the water pressure will be.

Lawn and garden watering make up nearly 40% of total household water use during the summer. A rain barrel collects water and stores it for when you need it most -- during periods of drought -- to water plants, wash your car, or to top a swimming pool. Unconverted barrels are $35, unpainted rain barrels (blue) are $45 and painted (green) rain barrels are $55. The paint on the barrels is Hunter Green using Krylon Fusion Paint for plastic. The dimensions of the barrel are approximately 3 ft. high by 2 ft. wide.
