Our family has had chinchillas as PETS since 97.
We have rescued as many as 50 at one time (A breeder died and the chinchillas were abandoned for 2weeks).
We have no other animals to scare the chinchillas. We hold the chins every day (unless they have been abused and are scared... we work with them).
Our cages are 5'X4'X3'. We have a play area in our unfinished basement. We feed the chins pellets from Nutrition Research (special ordered), fresh alfalfa, straw and treats are occasional (raisins or dried fruit).
We know a lot of people have chinchillas that can not play with them, or take care of them because of their schedules. WE UNDERSTAND. WE WANT TO HELP.
