For sale is one Yamaha FJ1200. "The" classic sport touring bike that set the standard for all others. This bike has only 26 K miles (a little lesss actually), which is about 1500 miles per year, and I see people routinely riding these 50-100K and loving it.
Bike is in very good to excellent condition. I am not sure what your standard is for excellent, but this is extremely close. Run, rides, and looks like an 8 or 9 out of 10. Two small (1/2 to 3/4 inch) scrapes on left side, where it tipped over once while on the kickstand on declined pavement- caught it while it was going down but it touched anyway and scraped. I included a close-up pic so you could see.
I added a pic so you can see the lower cowling - this goes under the front of the engine. There are a few stress cracks on the lip due to age/heat. This is normal, but wanted to show these. Also, on the left side of the bike where your knee goes there is a slight indentation. Not really a dent, just s shallow indentation. I tried to show this also in a pic.
In the pics you might see the straps for my tankbag - strap (and bag) NOT included with this sale. I need the straps and bag for my new bike. You may also see two bars (one on left, one of right) by rear foot pegs. These I installed to keep the saddle bags I used mounted sturdy and away from bike paint. These do NOT come with bike either.
I have owned this bike for approx 10 years, and I take it on one long ride per year plus a few weekend days here and there. When not riding, it is stored in my garage, covered and protected. Had carbs synced by dealer, new gel battery, and new forks seal 2 yrs ago - all still fine.
Bike is 18 years old. While some parts sparkle like new, you may find a small nick or imperfection here or there. No big hidden issues, just did not rate this 10 out of 10 since it is a rider, not a museum piece (althought if I had a bike museum, I would petition to keep this one and put it there).
This bike is one of the most comfortable, flexible (sport or touring or both), smooth, and reliable bikes that was ever made. Don't take my word for it, check out FJ1200 online as well.
