DescriptionSAN Engineer / Administrator Job Description:

TEKsystems is seeking candidates for a permanent placement opportunity for a SAN Engineer to be placed at their client in Naperville IL.


This position is for a SAN engineer to join a team in the day to day duties of

design, implementation and management of SAN (Storage Area Network) and NAS (Network Attached Storage) for their virtual customers' enterprise sized environments.

Other day to day duties involved within the parameters of the position would include some or all of the following:


*--Managing/Installing hardware/software upgrades

*--Participate in system testing and Disaster Recovery Testing

*--Problem management & tracking as well as contingency planning

*--Report creation/management for capacity planning

*--Technology Evaluation


In order to qualify for the position the client would like to see a minimum of


*--3 plus years experience configuring, deploying, and maintaining multi-terabyte EMC/HDS, NetApp and IBM disk arrays in SAN/NAS configurations.

*--3 plus years experience with EMC Timefinder and SRDF.

*--3 plus years supporting a Storage Area Network in a (HP ) UNIX/Windows environment.

*--Candidate well versed in configuring Emulex/QLogic/JNI-- Fibre HBAs.

*--Candidate well Versed with Brocade switch management and FabricOS --CLI/ fiber channel zoning

*--Candidate with experience in Logical volume management and setup for Solaris, HP-UX and Windows.

*--Candidate with experience with Veritas Foundation Suite for Unix and Intel.


Beyond the qualifications listed above; the client will give preference to individuals who have some or all of the following experience and/or knowledge

*--McData switch configuration/maintenance.

*--Understanding or experience with ISCSI. (*Shell scripting skills.

*--Understanding of SAP/Oracle systems.

*--Experience with UNIX (Solaris/HPUX) and Windows operating systems installation, patching and trouble shooting.

*--Understanding of server clustering in SUN/HP high availability environments.

*--Experience with Veritas Netbackup.


This position is currently accepting candidates and will hire upon successful interview with the client company.
