I am tired of certain shelters acting like they are doing us a favor and acting all high and mighty by allowing us to adopt one of their animals, because we do not have a fenced in yard or we will take one dog, but not two or go through three interviews to be turned down for some silly ancillary issue. We have worked with a few shelters and have gotten tired of having to jump through hoops to find a dog for our loving home. So I will cut to the chase.

We lost our dog of 14 years recently and our kids were heartbroken, so my wife has been hinting about getting another one. We are looking for a puppie or a young female (no onlder than three or four) (preferably one that is already fixed) to train the dog appropriately. We have three children, all over the age of seven and are looking for an active puppie or dog, one that likes to chase the kids, play fetch, wrestle around with and just have fun. We are hoping for a golden retriever, lab or a spaniel. We have a wonderful home, on a cul-de-sac, open yard with a large field behind it that will never be built on. My wife is an avid runner and would like a dog that would enjoy long jogs or spending time at the dog park. We have gotten the majority of our dogs through the adoption process, but due to the bureaucracy and ego trips some of these shelters are on, we have decided to go another route. Money is not the issue and we could afford to purchase a pure bread, however we would like to take a cherrished pet from someone who can no longer care for their dog and give it a loving and nurturing home.
