Consider hiring a doula (professional childbirth support person) as a supplement to your hospital professional staff. Many times now, hospital staff have more than one patient, along with other duties, and can not provide continuous support. After a short childbirth training fathers are left to assist their laboring partner and may not be confident in doing so. I help those fathers provide the level of support they are comfortable in providing.

As a doula, I meet with a client 2-3 times prior to the birth, I'm available via email and phone for questions or concerns at any time and on call 24/7 from 2 weeks prior to your due date until baby is born. We practice comfort measures and get to know each other before the birth. I offer continuous non medical support during the labor and birth. (examples..massage, assistance with positioning to speed labor, relaxation, information, etc) I also meet with clients once after baby is born.
