Up for adoption is Mitzi, a 19 year old tortie/tabby mix with a quiet, sweet disposition, and nothing but love to share... Back in May, I received a phone call that there was a very special kitty in need. A kitty that had been with her owner for years and years and years, that is, until her owner, whom she loved very much, developed Alzheimer's. Her owner tried very hard to find a kitty-friendly facility to care for them both, but her disease progressed too rapidly, and Mitzi couldn't stay. The kind-hearted nurse that had been caring for Mitzi's owner, saw a cat that was so friendly, still playful at times, and eager for love, that she took her in and contacted me. While Mitzi may be 19 years old, you would not believe it. She is a healthy weight, has a soft and silky coat, and has the sweetest personality you will ever see. She is a total purr factory and LOVES to snuggle against me, like a small child (see pic below), and will actually hang over my shoulder as I walk around with her. She is friendly, nosy sometimes, likes to sleep on top of high things or in small cubby holes, is snuggly, and will most likely want a warm body to lie next to at night. She will warm anyone's heart. As far as her health, she is doing great and has no major health concerns. She recently had a complete blood panel done, and all of her values were normal. She is negative for FIV and FELV, and is up to date with her rabies and distemper vaccinations. She is eating Royal Canin Venison and Green Peas diet, which she should stay on for the rest of her life. She also receives .6 ml of liquid prednisone twice a week for a mild ear and food allergy (hence, the venison diet). The prednisone can be picked up at any local pharmacy, and is inexpensive. All veterinary documentation will be provided. Also, Mitzi would do best in a home with no other cats. She deserves and would prefer to be the center of someone's attention, as she was her first 19 years, for the rest of her life.
