High Level Job Description:

Responsible for general support activities in a testing laboratory, including ordering of chemicals and supplies, sample receipt, small equipment maintenance and calibration (balance weight checks, spectrophotometer checks) and various administrative support duties. Will assist in routine sweeps of the lab to ensure compliance with safety regulations. 0 years of experience.

Position Description:

Assist Product and/or Process Development Scientists with bench-top, pilot plant and plant development and commercialization of new products and quality/cost improvement of existing products. Provide assistance to multiple scientists on multiple projects.

Perform laboratory, pilot plant and plant work.

Maintain organized laboratory environment.

Organize and weigh-out ingredients per formula specifications/instructions.

Batch formulas per batching instructions.

Execute experiments per experimental design instructions.

Manage storage and submitting samples during storage/shelf-life evaluation.

Perform required analytical tests.

Record/report activities, observations and results in a laboratory notebook.

Utilize Microsoft Word and Excel for reporting and summarizing data, data calculations and graphing.

Proactively utilize trouble-shooting to resolve challenges/issues.

Work with cross functional groups to prepare and execute experiments and evaluate samples.

Proactively contribute new ideas and understand/utilize standard safety/laboratory practices to effectively and safely execute tasks.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum Job Requirements:

o B.S. degree with/Food science/biology/chemistry laboratory experience is preferred.

o Experience executing laboratory experiments and formulation work/sample analysis.

o Experimental note taking/reporting.

o Sample labeling/storage.

o Trouble-shooting.

o Managing sample logistics for shelf-life/sensory evaluations, and other basic laboratory methods/procedures required.

o Good interpersonal/communication skills, both oral and written.

o Ability to work alone or in groups.

o Self-motivated/self-starter with the ability to handle multiple project assignments in a fast-paced environment is required.

o Willingness to conduct hands-on work in laboratory, pilot plant and plant environments.

o This position may require some travel and/or overtime.
