We are currently searching for a professional to join our team and fill the role of Budget Analyst in Chicago, IL.
The Budget Analyst will apply fiscal management principles and practices to a variety of responsible budgeting, accounting and/or fiscal functions. The individual will be under the direction of a designated supervisor.
Primary responsibilities for this position include: assisting in the review and revision of operating budgets and preparing them for submission to appropriate personnel, preparing and reconciling complex budget reports and assisting in the development, evaluation, implementation and operations of automated or manual budget systems. Additionally, the Budget Analyst is responsible for examining budget request documents to ensure compliance with pertinent policies, procedures and budget standards. The Budget Analyst will be expected to prepare complex reports and statements, participate in meetings on budget issues and policies, and provide standard interpretation of budget policy, budget procedures, and other management procedures. The Budget Analyst may supervise lower level staff as required.
This position requires at least two years of progressive experience managing budgets for multiple departments, including experience with computerized budgeting and/or accounting systems. (A Master's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, computer science or closely related fields or CPA certification may be substituted for one year of experience.) A bachelor's degree is required. This position requires a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, theories and practices used in budgeting, accounting and the analysis of fiscal operations, and the ability to apply such principles in an office environment. Qualified candidates will be able to analyze and interpret complex accounting records and reports, evaluate difficult budget issues, prepare difficult budget records and reports, evaluate and maintain long term capital expenditure plans, and develop complex financial models. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, and candidates must have the ability to interpret and communicate budget information effectively to individuals with varying levels of financial understanding. Working knowledge of MS Forecaster, Great Plains, Bio VUe, and/or Frx is strongly preferred.
